May 2011 Discovered Stone. Five glorious days tuition with, Richard Renshaw, Kate Sempel, and Will and Lottie O`Leary..
I was welcomed into the `expansive world of stone`, and advised to aim for `cerebral depth, and meaningful narrative`
Always inspired by Rodin, Hepworth and Moore, I now enjoy Brancusi, and Gill..

I have decided to return to the serious business of drawing..well I say serious, of course it is a discipline and requires careful observation in the pursuit of the line, use of tone and shade.The life class is a task master where the art of seeing as opposed to just looking requires an energy and a tenacity. It is easy to convince with a smudgey charcoal line.. however,measured observed proportions cannot be fudged...

Drawing is fun too..Drawing sound was a particularly interesting experience..synthesised sound at that! The act of making marks in response to sound, was impossible to logically process..just had to do it!..and become lost in the interraction between charcoal/pencil/crayon..and the substrate. Wonderful. Absorbing..and therefore meditative..
Drawing is a vehicle through which to record and observe, and also to play and respond..
